After weeks of searching, Alberta Mounties have arrested a man wanted in connection to the killing of a 60-year-old Fort McKay man earlier this month.
On Dec. 5, Wood Buffalo RCMP officers responded to a firearms complaint on Target Road in Fort McKay and advised all residents to take shelter. Police later confirmed the identity of the victim as Fort McKay resident Russell John Shott. According to a family member of Shott, he was trying to break up an altercation when he was gunned down.

RCMP issued a search warrant for a man who they believed was armed and dangerous, and in a Dec. 12 update, police said the suspect was believed to be in the Edmonton area.
In a Thursday RCMP news release, police said a man was located and arrested without incident by Wood Buffalo Mounties on the Gregoire Lake First Nation, near Fort McMurray.
Anton Grandjambe, 21, is charged with second-degree murder. He has been remanded into police custody and is scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray court on Jan. 3.
