Autopsy results confirm a man found dead in a truck on Tuesday was shot.
In a Thursday afternoon release, city police identified 32-year-old Mohamed Abdi as the victim in the shooting that took place in the area of 94 Street and 145 Avenue at approximately 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Abdi’s cause of death was a gun shot wound, and his manner of death has been ruled a homicide. This is the city’s ninth homicide of 2024.

Upon arrival, cops found the deceased man in the driver’s seat of a black truck. Witnesses described a white truck fleeing the area.
A short time later, police located a white truck on fire in the area of 106 Street and 155 Avenue. Further investigation revealed the truck was stolen on March 18.
Investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have seen the truck, either parked or driving during that time frame.
Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information in regards to the whereabouts of the truck between March 18 and April 2, or anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage in the area of 145 Avenue and 94 Street between 1 a.m. and 1:40 a.m. and the area of 155 Avenue and 106 Street between 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. to contact EPS at 780-423-4567.
