She was removed from the job in early April 2022, more than a year before the end of her contract, which was extended by two years in June 2021. Yiu received a severance payment of more than $573,000, the equivalent of one year’s salary. Neither Alberta Health nor AHS would not confirm whether she resigned or was fired.
Yiu is currently the interim provost and vice-president, Academic at the University of Alberta, a professor of pediatrics in the university’s Division of Pediatric Nephrology, and a health care practitioner who continues to work on the front lines, providing care at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
