Edmonton pair charged after RCMP auto theft unit investigation

Two Edmontonians are facing charges after the Alberta RCMP auto theft unit recovered a Lexus RX350, Porsche Macan, Toyota Highlander, Dodge Durango and an Audi A7, all of which had been re-VINed.

The unit launched an investigation in early November after vehicles suspected to be re-VINed were registered in Edmonton, Strathcona County, and the Airdrie areas, RCMP said in a Monday news release.

On Dec. 13, a search warrant was executed in Edmonton before officers recovered the Lexus, Porsche, Toyota, Dodge, and an Audi, worth a total of roughly $160,000. Additionally, RCMP seized more than $10,000 in cash.

Ahmad Imran, 29, is charged with three counts of trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and fraudulent concealment.

Charise Arthur-Hiscock, 34, is charged with two counts of uttering a forged document; trafficking in property obtained by crime, fraudulent concealment, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Both suspects were taken before a justice of the peace and released from custody with the next court dates set for Jan. 22 at the Alberta court of justice in Edmonton.
