Edmonton police seek third suspect in last December's slaying

On Dec. 18, 2022, police were called to a report of shooting at a suite near 103 Street and 106 Avenue at around 4:45 a.m. When they arrived, they found a 23-year-old man with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated by paramedics before he was taken to hospital.

As officers were at the apartment, they were called to another shooting at a convenience store, near 104 Street and 107 Avenue, and when they arrived, they found Mohamed in the parking lot suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. He died on scene shortly after. His death was ruled a homicide.

Detective previously arrested Hamdi Abdi-Ahmed, 30, during a vehicle stop on Thursday morning who was wanted on a warrant for second-degree murder regarding Mohamed’s death.

On Tuesday, police said a third suspect is still at large and are seeking the whereabouts of Abdullahi Are, 33. He is wanted on a charge of second-degree murder.
