Edmonton weather: Cold, rainy with a risk of frost overnight…seriously?

Article content

A look at Saturday’s weather by Environment Canada.

It’s 3.6 C at the Edmonton Blatchford weather station with 9 km/h winds out of the northwest.

It’s cold, it’s raining and it’s going to get so cold overnight that we may even see some frost in outlying areas—but at least it’s not so windy!

There’s still a breeze out there, mind you, with forecasters calling for gusts between 20-40 km/h this morning but that should settle down by noon with winds around 10 km/h. Much better. Still, it’s going to be a chilly one by June standards with a high of just 10 C today and rain/drizzle throughout.

Doubt it will dampen the mood of crowds at the Edmonton Elks home opener at Commonwealth Stadium or the thousands who will undoubtedly pack the Oilers watch party outside Rogers Place. Should be a fun day for sports fans—go sports!
