You can feel it in the water. You can feel it in the air. Despite the 30 per cent chance of flurries, the threat of frostbite still looms over us. Residents should bundle up if they plan to go outside and battle the winds of up to 15 km/h that will bring the high up to -19 C and a wind chill of -30. While the temperature will rise to -16 C tomorrow from the mix of sun and clouds, there will still be a severe wind chill of -26. So if you have to go outdoors, make sure you’re still sporting your toques and gloves and little pet booties!

Cold Streets

City has extended its extreme weather response until Monday January 22 at 8 a.m. to help keep vulnerable Edmontonians safe during the cold. If cold weather conditions persist, it may be further extended.

A friendly reminder that the city has activated its extreme weather response to help vulnerable Edmontonians stay safe during the cold weather expected over the coming days.

According to data from Homeward Trust, as of last Saturday there are a total of 3,051 people experiencing homelessness on Edmonton streets. Of those, 1,733 are provisionally accommodated, 519 are in shelters, 694 are unsheltered and 105 are unknown. However, provisional accommodation does not mean permanent housing.
