As we all still recover from last week’s big freeze, some gentle snowfall is what greets us this Tuesday morning, around 2 cm, which thankfully helps raise today’s temperature to a practically balmy high of -12 C! The chill does return a little tomorrow, a mix of sun and cloud and winds of up to 15 km/h will bring the high back down to -21 C. The rest of the week will be a bit up and down this way, with the sun and clouds battling it out as the highs stay near -20 C, give or take a degree — there will be severe wind chill, too, down to -33 at the lowest, so make sure to protect all your bits. The end of the week will lots of snowfall, though, so get ready to use your sleds or make some snowmen!
Cold Streets
A friendly reminder that the city has activated its extreme weather response to help vulnerable Edmontonians stay safe during the cold weather expected over the coming days.
According to data from Homeward Trust, as of last Saturday there are a total of 3,051 people experiencing homelessness on Edmonton streets. Of those, 1,733 are provisionally accommodated, 519 are in shelters, 694 are unsheltered and 105 are unknown. However, provisional accommodation does not mean permanent housing.
