It’s all enough to trigger the City of Edmonton’s extreme weather response, to be activated come noon Sunday, as the mercury sinks into the -20 C range with wind chill for the coming days.
The city response intended to keep the vulnerable from deep cold harm is expected to be in play until Friday morning. Open city facilities, like recreation centres and libraries, will be expecting those trying to get out of the bitter cold. A third bus will also be added to the existing overnight winter shelter shuttle service, with support staff available to help passengers access emergency shelters and referrals to other services.
