Jayman Built is predicting a strong 2024 for Edmonton’s residential housing market.

The winner of seven awards, including a top Builder of the Year award, at the recent Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Edmonton Region Awards of Excellence in Housing gala, said it also wants to lead the way in building more sustainable homes.

“Jayman Built is forecasting a strong, healthy market for Edmonton in 2024,” said Dalayce Keen, sales manager for Jayman Built Edmonton, adding that “affordability will remain top of mind for Jayman moving through the year.”

Jayman said it’s also excited to announce that it will be building in one of the city’s newest communities, Rosemont in West Edmonton.

Rosemont, from developer MLC Group, will open this fall with lots adjacent to the Michael Rawson Clark Natural Area, a protected wetland and forest — the community is located at Secord Boulevard and 92nd Avenue N.W.

At the 2024 edition of the CHBA Edmonton Region awards, Jayman was named Builder of the Year – Large Volume, took two of the three Environmental Recognition awards, won for Best Greenfield/Garden Secondary Suite, took two Single-Family Homes awards and also won for Best Design Centre/Show Room.

“We had two full tables of team members present at the awards and to say we exploded with excitement is an understatement,” said Keen, in regard to taking the Builder of the Year award after already racking up six wins on the night. “The team has been working incredibly hard over the year and it was an amazing moment to be honoured in this way. Our team seized the opportunity to celebrate and receive this award for 2024.”

With Jayman winning Environmental Recognition awards for Single-Family Large Volume Builder and Best Net Zero Home – Single Family, it said it’s all about its purpose and passion.

“Jayman Built wants to lead the home building industry by example,” said Keen. “Offering sustainable, energy efficient homes to families is our passion. Every new Jayman Built home built today is 33 per cent better than (the) 2023 Building Code and includes 10 solar panels as standard. We also have introduced Net Zero Certified Homes over the last several years, with a Net Zero Certified show home in every (show home) parade we build in. Sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint is at the heart of our company and our building practices.”

It was Jayman’s Karma model that snagged it the best net zero single family home award. It offers a main floor bedroom and full bath option, an oversized kitchen island, a spacious primary bedroom retreat with spa-inspired ensuite and a comfortable centre bonus room on the upper floor.

The Karma also won another award with its Karma Legal Suite counterpart being named as the winner for Best Greenfield Garden/Secondary Suite.

“Basement developments have become more popular in recent years with the ability to gain rental income or host more family in the same dwelling,” said Keen. “Our award-winning Karma legal suite offers a functional space that is comfortable. Each room was carefully designed to have everyday living maximized. Generously sized kitchen and bedroom space make this suite perfect for a rental possibility. Adding our Quantum E – Net Zero option contributes significant cost savings to the homeowner and will offer years of energy savings.”

Meanwhile, Jayman’s Brady and Sonata models were also winners — the Brady for Best Single Family Under $300,000 and the Sonata for Best Single Family $300,000 to $350,000.

“The Brady is our top-selling laned home model that offers a lot of bang for your buck,” said Keen. “This home offers affordability without compromise. (It has a) large kitchen with flush eating bar that overlooks an open entertaining space. The upper floor delivers three bedrooms that are great in size, plus a second-floor laundry for added convenience. Home buyers comparing the Brady single-family option to a townhome or duplex are pleasantly surprised at how this home is so attainable. The Sonata is, simply stated, wow! The soaring great room ceilings as you walk in make this model unique.”
