Beep beep! If you’ve ever wanted to take a look at a bunch of Edmonton’s downtown galleries in one go, the perfectly named Explore Edmonton is giving you the opportunity.
This Saturday, a one-day, map-crawling ArtBus service is rolling through a loop of eight specially-designated Art Stops.
Article content
Participants on the route include Mitchell Art Gallery (11110 104 Ave.), SNAP Gallery and Print Shop (10572 115 St.), Harcourt House (10215 112 St.), Alberta Craft Council (10186 106 St.), Latitude 53 (10130 100 St.), Art Gallery of Alberta (2 Sir Winston Churchill Sq.), Edmonton Arts Council Shop and Services (9930 102 Ave.) and Ociciwan Contemporary Art Centre (10124 96 St.).

The two chartered ETS buses frequently stop at each of these locations, moving to the next, and it’s free to ride.
Once aboard, a tour host will greet riders and invite them to grab a free exhibition zine that includes a dedicated page for each gallery exhibition, a kid-friendly colouring activity and space to write quick notes or catch thoughts from the tour.
Riders will get a stamp at each Art Stop as they explore the given exhibition, so it’s a collectible activity. A host from Rapid Fire Theatre will also entertain on each route.
Besides specific art and activities, many of the galleries have wares so you can get ahead on holiday shopping or bring home a treasure for yourself.
General highlights include light refreshments served at Harcourt and Mitchell, studio tours of SNAP, the closing reception of the Ghost Stories group show at Ociciwan, tours at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at AGA where you’ll find a Handmade for the Holidays market, and 10 per cent off at the EAC shop.
Remember the AGA is still charging $14 admission for adults, $10 for age 65+, students and youth under 18 free — but also $3 off for EPL and Arc cardholders.

The complimentary initiative runs from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, supported by the Meet Me Downtown Grant.
Hop aboard the cultural express — and keep your feet off the seats!
