The always-kinetic Good Women Dance Collective is back with another production of the ever-shifting Convergence.
This time — the showcase’s 14th iteration — the dance double bill features a solo by special guest Sarah Hin Ching U from Vancouver and a duet by GWDC artists Alida Kendell and Alison Kause.

U’s Silent Howl is a multimedia contemporary dance performance that stems from her living experience with a seizure disorder.

“While I am drenched of having to advocate for myself constantly in the extremely physically demanding dance world, I find my condition a gift at certain times,” says its choreographer-dancer, U.
“I hope this performance reminds people that being different is not a weakness, but a strength to be celebrated.”
The work recreates sensations of uncontainability by constructing a highly energetic world showcasing movement, real-time animation and electronic music corresponding to the theme of lines.
Meanwhile GWDC’s performance, there we are. There, is a premiere duet choreographed by Kause and Kendell.
“Absurdity, intimacy and existence are explored by two entities who never leave each other’s side,” reads the bill. “Together they inhabit their world in ways that are recognizable yet slightly off-kilter. They talk straight and sit crooked. They are in between, unravelling, navigating and arriving.”
There are three performances from which to choose: 7:30 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday; 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Thursday show will have ASL interpretations and Creative Caption, plus artist talk back, all happening at the Westbury Theatre in the Fringe Theatre Arts Barns (10330 84 Ave.).
