Two women and one man are facing first-degree murder charges stemming from the death of a man on Sturgeon Lake First Nation last year.

On Nov. 8, Valleyview RCMP officers responded to a report of a man who had been assaulted and was suffering from serious lacerations to his body at a home on Sturgeon Lake First Nation, said police in a Thursday release.

The man was taken to hospital, where he later died due to his injuries. An autopsy was conducted by the Edmonton medical examiner’s office, and it was determined that the death of Aaron Bellcourt, 36, was ruled a homicide.
