Abbas Wahab: This hilarious, Toronto-based Sudanese-Canadian standup comedian played a thankfully-corrected, non-Discovery-blue Klingon on Star Trek Strange New Worlds, saying of his time in the makeup chair and on set, “It was an unforgettable experience.”

He’s also had appearances on The Boys, Children Ruin Everything and The Handmaid’s Tale. As for the weekend sets, says Wahab when asked, “It’s raw and uncensored comedy from a nationally touring headliner, and it counts as diversity training! Certificates included.” Also check out Celeste Lampa at 9 p.m., as she is great, too.

The Eight: If you’re down at Deep Freeze next weekend, or around 118 Avenue sooner, check out this collaborative art show between Leah Wilson, Tim Rechner, Stephen Serda and D.N.E.

The result of Jeff Collins’ and Will Turchon’s Stop, Drop and Paint project at this year’s Kaleido fest, each artist spent 45 minutes at a time painting a number of boards and canvasses outside on the street over two days, capturing the joy and mayhem of the annual neighbourhood arts festival.

Details: runs through Feb. 10 at Collins Studio Gallery (11741 94 St.), no charge.

Echo: Modern Marvel, post-Thanos being what it is, the Hawkeye-spinoff Echo has a bit of a meandering Book of Boba Fett vibe, where you really need to have done your homework between the MCU and MCU-adjacent Netflix Daredevil to enjoy/comprehend the nuances and questionable motivations.

Interesting here from a local angle is Maya’s excitable Cousin Biscuits is played by Edmonton’s Cody Lightning, with local expat Tantoo Cardinal as her grandmother Chula. It’s also sweet to see so many Reservation Dogs actors including Graham Greene, Devery Jacobs and Zahn McClarnon in one place again, and if you haven’t watched that show yet, well, do so with absolutely zero hesitation.
