Two charged after High Level RCMP seize gun, cocaine, cash

Two men are facing drugs and weapons charges after Alberta Mounties seized a stash of drugs, cash and a gun during a traffic stop near High Level last weekend.

In a Thursday news release, High Level RCMP said officers were conducting the Dec. 23 traffic stop on a known offender who was out while under a court-ordered curfew.

A passenger was also in the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a firearm and a satchel containing multiple scales, baggies, 102 grams of cocaine and $3,020 in cash.

Corey James Beaulieu, 25, is charged with six firearm-related offences, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and six counts of failure to comply with a release order.

Tyrel Henry Chalifoux-Wolfe, 26, is also charged with six firearm-related offences, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and one count of obstructing a police officer.

Beaulieu was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in High Level court on Jan. 2, 2024. Chalifoux-Wolfe was released with conditions, and is scheduled to appear in High Level court on Jan. 15, 2024.

High Level is approximately 733 kilometres north of Edmonton.
